Fishing Report 25/08/2018

Fishing at Loganlea over the last week has been good with lots of surface action when the conditions are right.  Muddlers, Daddies and Hoppers have all featured in the catch reports.   I visited on Saturday and started at the Dam with a team of diawl bachs and FAB on the point.  Another angler already had two fish on a Cats Whisker and I was encouraged by a solid take on my first cast.   Unfortunately, this was my only take and I tried different fly combinations before switching to a small Damsel and picking up a couple of fish.    One of the boat anglers was doing well and I saw him pick up 6 or 7 fish quite quickly – Unfortunately, I didn’t know what flies he was using so kept experimenting with different combinations.    After lunch I tried the burn end and quickly concluded that the Dam area was the livelier place for fish.   Moving back to the Dam, I picked up a good fish on an orange Cruncher which took the fly static and produced a great fight before being safely released.   Floating or midge tip lines seem to be more successful combined with more natural patterns.   The fishery continues to be stocked weekly with some good large fish introduced to challenge anglers.
