Fishing Report 27/4/2019

Fishing over the last week has been great with fish active on or near the surface during the warmer weather. Nymphs, FABs and buzzers have been most productive but lures have also done well during the colder periods. I joined Mick Mulgrew on Saturday and we decided to start at the burn end with Buzzers and FABs. I was broken on my third cast by a savage take on a red buzzer and the lucky fish swam off with my three flies. Mick decided to try lures and immediately connected with a fish which managed to slip the hook. This was repeated twice more before I managed to recast and start fishing. I then connected and landed a good fish on a black and red buzzer but the weather turned very cold and this made things more difficult. We both managed lots of takes but struggled to keep the fish on. After lunch we tried the dam end and far bank as the fish are now well spread over the reservoir (There were signs of fish rising in the middle and the boats seemed to be doing well). We ran into regular Marco and he’d managed 10 fish on buzzers on the opposite side to the cabin. Mick and I had both picked up fish on black lures but decided to change to buzzers for the remainder of the day.
