Loganlea Fishing Report 6/3/22

The 2022 season kicked off on the 1st March and the majority of anglers had a great day with lots of fish being caught. The burn end was the most productive but fish were taken in all areas with a variety of tactics – lures, nymphs and buzzers all featured in the returns. Most anglers used intermediate lines but floating lines with buzzers or bugs under a bung were all productive. The weather at this time of year has been very changeable and Saturday provided more challenging conditions after a hard overnight frost and bright sunshine seemed to put the fish off. This was also my first visit of the season and I started in front of the cabin using a black lure but quickly tried different tactics in an effort to find the fish. There were quite a few fish moving in the middle of the reservoir but those were outwith casting distance. Mick Mulgrew tried a bug under a bung but neither of us managed any fish. A couple of other anglers had success with a size 12 hares ear in the same are but we decided to join Kenny Macdonald and head for the burn end. I was quickly into a fish using a blue damsel and Kenny had some interest with an Aly McCoist lure. Fish were also taken on the dam with buzzers and far shore with cormorants and different lures.

We hope to get some boats in the water today and should have 4 boats available for booking – please contact the fishery if you would like to book a boat. We will continue to stock weekly and look forward to welcoming anglers.
